Imagination Library Carnival helps instill a love for reading at a young age

The fourth annual Johnson County Imagination Library was held at the library in Heritage Square on August 22nd. Participants of all ages were treated to the amazing art talents of children’s book illustrator, Michael P. White. Music provided by JAM members was enjoyed by all.  Barb Gratsch was honored by the local Imagination Library Board for the countless volunteer hours she has dedicated to children’s literacy through the Imagination Library program.  Theresa Carl and Abby Robinson from the governor’s Books From Birth Foundation were also in attendance to celebrate Barb’s achievements. There were several games and activities for the participants to enjoy. Children could visit the story tent and receive a free book. Free train rides provided by Engineer B.C. Stout were the highlight of the carnival free activities. Adults participated and enjoyed the raffle and silent auction held inside the library. The carnival is the main event held to raise funds for our local Imagination Library program.  The Johnson County Imagination Library would like to thank the community for donations to the carnival and a big thanks to student and adult volunteers that worked at the carnival.
