Child injured when struck by car at Roan Creek Elementary

Ten-year-old Brittany Brewer was hit by a vehicle yesterday afternoon as she was attempting to get inside a vehicle at Roan Creek Elementary School.
According to a Tennessee Highway Patrol preliminary report, Glenn Hammons, 76 years old, was driving his vehicle and had started to pull up in the line outside the school.  It was reported instead of applying the brakes, he hit the gas pedal, striking the vehicle Brewer was getting it.  His vehicle then hit Brewer, throwing her to the ground and causing serious injuries. She was airlifted out for medical care. 19-year old Justin Brewer was also injured in the incident.   Officials from Mountain States Health Alliances had reported Monday that Brittany Brewer was in fair condition.  Hammons was charged with due care.
