Johnson Countys quest to cool off the Lady Cyclones was like trying to put out a bonfire with a water pistol.It took only a few minutes to get completely out of control. Elizabethton lived up to their No. 1 state ranking by knocking off the Lady Longhorns 83-25 inside of Ray Shoun Gymnasium on Tuesday.
Johnson County fell behind 20-0 before hitting their first basket at the 2:52 mark. The Cyclones had 35 points heading into the second quarter.
Johnson County played a big factor in Betsys fast start.
They missed four layups to start the game and turned it over five times. Five of their first eight shots came inside the paint.
By halftime the Cyclones led 51-17. And it might have been more had they stayed in their full court pressure defense.
Kayla Marosites led the way with 15 points. Emily Kiser added 14 and Kelci Marosites contributed 12. Megan Pietrowski and Emily Schubert scored 11 and 10 points respectively giving Elizabethton five players in double figures.
