Tomahawk Talk: Longhorns need to step up in Region 2A standings

The 2019 high school basketball season so far has been a struggle for the JCHS Longhorns boy’s team. The program’s current 3-8 record in District play ranks the team just ahead of Elizabethton and West Greene.  Their biggest win so far was over large school David Crockett, but the struggles were expected for the Horns who graduated four seniors off of last year’s squad.

Elizabethton comes to town on January 7, inside of Ray Shoun Gymnasium, and it needs to be packed that night to the rafters.  The Cyclones have some injuries right now that have them where they are currently in District play, but they’ll be the top team when Parker Hughes and Bryson Rollins return from their football injuries. Mark your calendar, January 3.

The Longhorn Nation needs to come out for the girl’s game, and let’s try to steal a couple of win over the Cyclones.  The girls’ game starts at 6:30 pm. Both teams need the fan support. Hopefully, the Longhorns’ mini dome will be packed that night to cheer on the Horns.
