A bad storm and heavy rains would finally put a damper on Johnson Countys opening night of Little League play. But it couldnt keep Tarrs Longhorns from storming to a win in the first game.
They had little trouble in knocking off the Braves 18-2. And they did it with a heavy hit parade.
Tarrs batted around to the tune of nine runs in the first inning. They would combine to duplicate that amount during the second and third innings.
Clay Stanley, one of four pitchers, earned the win on the mound for Tarrs. Ian Norris pitched a scoreless inning while Matthew Moses had four strikeouts in his 1 2/3 innings pitched.
Randy Stanley led Tarrs hitting, going 3-for-4 including a triple and double. Mason Shankel ripped a pair of doubles and walked. Dalton Anderson, Clay Stanley and Matthew Moses each had two hits including doubles. Ian Norris went 2-for-2.
C.J. Laing and Josh Austin had the only two hits in the game for the Braves.
