It was a happy Friday for Johnson County at Happy Valley. The Lady Longhorns overcame a 2-0 deficit by scoring 12 unanswered run over the final three innings to earn a 12-2 win over the Warriors.
Happy Valley used an RBI single by Hannah Randolph in the opening frame to go up 1-0. Back-to back singles from Claire Johnson and Olivia Archer gave them a 2-0 lead in the third. That proved to be a wake-up call for the Horns.
Julia Jenkins drove home Bella Miller with a single in the third to pull them within one.
They would take the lead for good in the fifth by scoring three times.
Renie Morrow and Miller got things started with a pair of singles. Another base hit by Jenkins and a pair of passed balls enabled them to move in front 4-2.
They ended the contest with a 9-run outburst in the sixth.
Alexis Henley blasted a triple to get things started. Margaret Morrow drove her home with a single. Walks to Renie Morrow and Emily Garr loaded the bases. Miller had a big base hit and Jenkins plated another after getting beaned.
It was the next blast that blew the game open.
Hannah Brooks ripped a grand slam home run over the fence to up their lead at 9-2. Henley added another run scoring base hit. Margaret Morrow would seal it with a towering triple.
