Longhorns move up to third in 3A state poll

A couple of close calls in Greene County have worked in Johnson County’s favor so far in the AP State’s 3A football poll. The Longhorns moved up to third this week after Pearl-Cohn dropped their second game of the season to Cookeville 28-7.
The Longhorns have a 15-point lead over Smith County 5-0 who moved up from sixth to fourth. Alcoa 3-2 remains on top despite its close loss to Maryville ranked third in 6A.
Alcoa defeated Pigeon Forge 52-0. Raleigh Egypt topped Woodale 25-0 while Smith County got by York Institute 42-41. Milan dropped to eighth after falling to Covington 28-27
A couple of future opponents for the Longhorns are moving up in the polls. Happy Valley is 7th in 2A at 4-0. Cloudland is 7th in 1A with a 4-0 mark.
