Johnson County made its fourth consecutive playoff appearance on the gridiron back in the fall and seven players were tabbed for All-Conference honors.
The Tomahawk ran pictures of Longhorn players who were voted to The Tomahawk’s All Johnson/Carter County squad but only ran a small brief for the All-Conference team. Today we would like to recognize the quintet plus two. Peyton Fenner, Cody Bailie, Samuel Icenhour, Jake Bower, Alex Tressler, Dakota Wright and Bud Icenhour gathered honors for 2015. Fenner amassed 149 tackles which was tops for Northeast Tennessee. Bailie had 36 catches for 511 receiving yards.
Bower, a four-year starter, was flawless while snapping the ball into Johnson County’s shotgun formation. He played a big role in the Longhorns earning their fourth consecutive trip to the playoffs. Samuel Icenhour rushed for nearly 600 yards and led the team in interceptions. Wright ran for over 500 yards and had four kickoff returns for touchdowns. Tressler was second on the team in tackles and was their most versatile player. Bud Icenhour had a solid sophomore season on both sides of the football.
