BLUFF CITY— A bushel basket full of errors allowed East to take a 17-4 win over Johnson County on Tuesday at McKamey Field.
Things didn’t start well for the Longhorns and they got much worse as the game went on.
It all started in the first inning when East put up 10 runs.
Two walks, two hit batters and five errors were like a “Nightmare on Elm Street” for the Horns. Jeffrey Lunceford made it worse by launching a three-run homer over the left field fence scoring Gunner Griffith and Aaron Frye who had singled.
The ‘Pats added seven more in the third stanza with three walks and two errors doing major damage. East did have four base hits including two-run singles by Tanner Dotson and Zac Baker. Griffith would chip in with an RBI double.
The Longhorns were able to score their first run of the year in the third. They would tack on another three but it wasn’t enough.
Sammy Icenhour drove in their first run with a single. Adam Worley had an RBI base hit. Devin Lewis had the only other one.
