Longhorns drop a pair to South

The Longhorns battled South on even terms before falling in a pair of tough losses. They lost 10-2 and 2-0 despite getting a pair of excellent pitching performances by Jayden Joiner and Ben Howard.

South 10, Johnson Co. 2
The Rebels were able to push across seven runs in the seventh inning to win a hard fought game over the Longhorns. Johnson County’s defense was the difference in this contest at the Rebels took advantage of nine Longhorn errors to score seven unearned runs.
Ben Howard pitched an excellent game striking out nine batters and walking only three. He gave up four runs, but only one was earned.
Asa Lewis and Weston Throop led the hitting going 2-for-3 each for Johnson County. Zack Parsons, Bradley Livorsi, Petie Pavusek, and Jayden Joiner added one hit each.

Jayden Joiner pitched a gem for the Longhorns,
but it wasn’t enough due to their lack of offense.
Joiner struck out nine batters and never allowed an earned run.
He also tried to help his cause by collecting a pair of base hits. Petie Pavusek was also 2-for-3. Weston Throop was 1-for-1 and Asa Lewis 1-for-3.
