Lightning halts Longhorn golfers

A six-team match at Elizabethton was nearly complete when heavy rains and lighting forced them off the course.
Many of the Longhorns had completed seven of their nine holes and according to Coach Matt Bray they all had their best scores of the season.
“It’s a forgiving course on some holes,” said Bray. “Our kids took advantage of that and most of them were posting their best scores.
Senior Isaiah Penley had overcome one hole where he couldn’t find his ball but found himself battling for low medalist honors. John Stout had a pair of nice putts on the day and Marley Eggers was making some noise on the girl’s side.
The Longhorns were scheduled to be back in action on Tuesday.
