Johnson County was seeking its third win of the season at Unicoi County. Unfortunately their attempt at number three didnt turn out to be a charm.
The Lady Longhorns fell 68-28 in a game that the Blue Devils put away early.
Over half the Blue Devils first quarter points came from behind the three-point arc.
Morgan Lee Brown hit a pair of treys and Haley Webb added another. Johnson County got a single basket each from Dawn Lewis and Kelsey Duperry but trailed 18-4 after one.
I keep preaching to them not to give up, said head coach Todd Whittemore. I know theyre playing hard. Were just not as talented or deep as most teams are.
The Lady Blue Devils used the charity strip to gather almost half their second quarter output. They shot 9-of-10 from the foul line and Brown added her third trey.
Johnson County once again had only two field goals, one by Kourtney Tolley and the other one from Jaymie Jennings.
The Lady Longhorns trailed 37-9 at the break.
Johnson County finally found some offense in the third quarter and put up 12 points. But the Blue Devils kept their consistency by bettering that with an 18-point output.
Jennings had six in the frame and Tolley provided four.
The Blue Devils were leading 55-21 going into the final frame. They outscored Johnson County 13-7 in the final quarter.
Tolley led the Longhorns with 11 points while Jennings added 10 points and nine rebounds.
