JCMS 7th grade volleyball takes first place

The Johnson County Middle School 7th grade volleyball team won first place in their conference tournament on Sat. Oct. 4th, at Providence Academy. The Blue Ridge Conference JV includes Johnson County, Titan Team Sports, Providence Academy, KACHEA, Heritage of Greenville, and Sullins Academy.
In a single elimination tournament, the JCMS JV defeated the Titans and then KACHEA for the first place trophy.
Hannah Brooks #22 had 13 points in the two-game match against the Titans. And Shelby Lunceford #1 had 15 points. In the next match against KACHEA, which was also a two-game match, Natali Winters # 12 had 10 points, and Chloe Arnold #6 had seven points. The team had a great season with an overall record of 10-2 and a conference record of 9-1.
The eighth grade varsity tournament, was double elimination and includes Johnson County, Providence Academy, and KACHEA.
The first match was a three-game win for JCMS against Providence Academy. Scores were 25-15,17-25, and 15-10. Leading server for the match was Kaylee Wittenberg with 10 points. The next match was a tough one for the Lady Horns – a loss to KACHEA 15-25 and 10-25. JCMS then faced Providence again the match went into three games and JCMS was defeated 24-26, 25-16, and 12-15. JCMS finished in third place, Providence Academy in second place and KACHEA in first.
