Johnson County will get a dress rehearsal for the upcoming volleyball season on Tuesday, August 11 at Sullivan North High School.
The 2015 Three Rivers Conference Jamboree gets underway with three games on tap for the Lady Longhorns.
Theyll play Unicoi County at 5:30, North at 6:30 and Sullivan East at 7 pm.
Each game will consist of one set to 25 with a cap of 27 if necessary.
Head coach Donna Poteet graduated several from last years squad but does have a talented group of players that include seven seniors. She said the team was excited about getting on the court next week.
Were going to scrimmage David Crockett on Tuesday and then well go to Carson Newman on Saturday to take part in scrimmages against several teams, said Poteet. Our kids are excited about this year. Theyve played together since middle school and have a good feel for one another. Our varsity players are eager to go up against somebody besides our junior varsity. Well take a look at several of them this week. We hope to have our lineup set by the jamboree.
Theyll open their regular season on August 17 at Sullivan Central. The Lady Longhorns will play six games and a tournament before their home opener on September 1 versus Sullivan South.
The Tomahawk will run a team preview with photos next week in our August 12 edition.
