JC’s Isaiah Penley shot a 44 to lead Johnson County

The Johnson County boys’ golf team earned their biggest win of the season on their home course at Red Tail on Tuesday.
The Longhorns shot an overall score of 202 which was six strokes better than the 208 put up by the Cyclones.
Isaiah Penley was low medalist for the Longhorns with a 44. Reece Stout and Jaiden Joiner each had a 52 and Gavin Reece was close behind with a 54.
Christopher Schaff earned the overall low medalist honors by shooting a 41. The Cyclones had a pair of 54’s for their next highest scores.
“It’s always great for us when we can beat Elizabethton in any sport,” said Johnson County’s golf coach Matt Bray. “Our kids work hard and we’re starting to see lots of improvement. Our scores were more balanced which was the difference. I’m very proud of their effort.”
Johnson County’s Marley Eggers played a solid match on the girls’ side.
