The JCHS Golf Team found things very difficult on Monday at the District 1-A/AA Golf Tournament.
The Longhorns failed to have a regional qualifier for the first time in several seasons and they finished as a team with a score of 390 in the event held at Elizabethton Golf Course.
The Longhorns best score was a 92 by Jon Vannoy, who threatened to qualify for the regionals before shooting a 48 on the back nine.
I definitely could have done better today, he said. I just need to keep practicing I guess.
Other scores included a 98 by Blade Hampton, a 100 by Sawyer Ward and also by Jacob Henson and a 118 by Harley Reece.
We were a little bit disappointed, Vannoy said.
The Longhorns are a very young squad that only has one senior, so JCHS should be back in contention next season.
Well definitely be better next year, Vannoy said.
With the golf course being a lot different from Red Tail, it was one where the Longhorns have always had to make some major adjustments.
The rough was very thick and hard to hit out of, Vannoy said.
As the golf season comes to a close, the Longhorns like the progress that has been made.
Everybody has definitely improved from last year, Vannoy said.
