JCHS golf advances to the regionals

The high school golf team picked up right where they left off at Elizabethton by firing a 158 on the first nine holes of the district tournament. This was the best nine hole score we have ever had at the district tournament.
Brandon Vannoy had a great side firing a 38, Morgan Eggers a 39, Nathan Timbs a 40, and Isaiah Penley a 41. Talk was at the end of the season that 2nd would come down to us and Univ. High and that was what happened. At the end, the team finished in third, one stroke behind Univ. High who took second with a score of 324 to JCHS 325. Very proud of the team and the way they played under pressure and knowing what was on the line with a trip to the regionals. Hole #16 seemed to be the one we let get away, having two birdies the day before in practice then having two doubles during the tournament, a 6 stroke difference in 24 hours, but that is golf. Boys had a fantastic season overall with 37 wins, 12 losses, and 1 tie with 5 of the losses coming on the last day at the regionals. Not our usual scoring, as Nathan Timbs had the best round with an 80 missing a chance at the state by 3 strokes. Nathan has had a great run as has senior Morgan Eggers. Great group of guys. Very proud to be associated with all of them.
