Johnson County was a bit off their game on Tuesday but it was still enough to slip past the Bulldogs. The Longhorns prevailed by eight strokes, 206-214, at the Red Tail Golf Course.

Isaiah Penley recorded a 43 to take low medalist honors. Brandon Vannoy added a 47 for the Longhorns who won despite their final two qualifiers shooting 58’s.

Hampton won the girls match with Hannah Brumitt’s 48 being the top score.
JCHS Austin Atwood knows his team has to play better when they travel to Elizabethton on Wednesday.

“We weren’t on top of our game at all,” said Atwood about his team’s performance. “I don’t feel like anyone had their best game but it’s still early in the season. I think Isaiah can shoot a little better than he did today and Brandon got his score down some from the last match. We’ve got to get our others kids’ scores down. Sawyer Main was sick today and didn’t play and that hurt. He’s usually plays under 50 and we’ll need that. The kids are having fun and that’s what matters most.  I know the scores will improve.”
