Diamondbacks defeat Pirates in Major Little League action

The Diamondbacks and the Pirates were playing a barnburner last Tuesday night in Major Little League Baseball action, only to see the D-Backs pull away late for a convincing win.
In a fourth inning that lasted an hour, the Diamondbacks scored 11 runs in the frame to win 16-4 at Cunningham Park.
The Pirates and the Diamondbacks were matching each other pitch for pitch early, but the flood gates opened as 14 people came to the plate in the fourth and 11 runs scored.
Give the young Pirates credit though as down 16-2 they scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth and never quit against the more experienced Diamondbacks squad.
Nate Shepherd and Phillip Dugger each scored three runs for the Diamondbacks and Dugger had a big triple during the game.
The biggest highlight for the Pirates was a double from Ben Jacobs that drove in Josh Widener.
The Pirates are a very young team, but they have a lot to look forward to in the years to come.
The Diamondbacks meanwhile had to face the prospects of some of their kids being at 4-H camp and they met the challenge head on.
