After Saturdays lack-luster performance, the Lady Longhorns played well against Chuckey-Doak but fell 38-27 in the girls consolation game on Monday.
It was quite a turnaround after losing to Happy Valley 51-15.
Coach Keshia Eller was pleased with their play except for late in the game.
We played hard but down the stretch we didnt give a lot of effort, said Eller. I dont think we played with any effort over the final four minutes of the game.
Things started off well for Johnson County in the first quarter.
Five points by Destiny Cole helped tie the game at 7-7 after one. But Doak stepped up their offense during the second quarter and led 27-16 at the half.
Johnson County managed to get it under double-digits twice in the third quarter but trailed 33-20 going into the final stanza. But a three-pointer by Abby Cornett and three free throws from Cole helped slice the deficit to seven with 4:17 remaining.
Chuckey-Doak never hit a field goal during the final quarter but did cash in on five charity tosses to put the game away.
