Johnson County Middle School will have a new head football coach this fall. Matt Bray has stepped down as head coach after seven seasons at the helm.
Bray currently has a medical issue that will sideline him this season, but he will fill the row as assistant girl’s coach for the middle school program, helping Kechia Eller.
Devin Shaw who currently coaches the boys’ middle school basketball team will fill in for Bray in 2016.
Shaw was a standout athlete at Johnson County and the switch should be a smooth one for all.
We will have more on this story during our 2016 football preview.
The second annual All Johnson /Carter County baseball and softball teams will be published in our next edition of The Tomahawk. Make plans to pick up a copy next week.

New Field House
The new field house is near completion with some final touches being added over the summer.  Don Kerley, head football coach, said that fall would be a more realistic time for its completion.
The job appears to be ahead of schedule and will be an added boost to all the sports programs at Johnson County.
The building is located outside the west end zone at the football field.

In need of prayer

Former All-State Hampton basketball standout Leslie Campbell is in need of everyone’s prayers. Campbell had a massive heart attack while teaching at Siam Learning Center around two weeks ago. She is currently in the ICU unit at the Johnson City Medical Center after spending a week in ICU at Carter County.
Campbell went on to star on the hardwood at Milligan College.
She played her elementary basketball at Little Milligan under Johnson County head coach, J. R. Campbell.
I am asking that every church in Johnson County add Campbell to their prayer list. Her family would greatly appreciate it.
