A mammoth first inning led to an easy win for the Angels on Saturday in Little League baseball play. Coach Brad Reece’s squad scored 10 runs, then held on for an 18-8 win over the Braves at Cunningham Park. Graham Reece set the tone on the mound allowing just two runs and no hits over his two-inning stint. The pair of runs scored was unearned. The Angels came out swinging the bats and did some mass destruction in the opening frame. Nathaniel Ashenback blasted an inside-the-park homerun to lead the way. Trey Snyder had a run scoring triple. Mason Bragg, Reece, Connor Simcox and Asa Lewis all drove in runs with a base hit. The game was marred by several walks between both squads. Isaiah Crowder had the only hit in the game for the Braves. Ashenback, Snyder and Bragg slugged out two hits apiece for the Angels. Reece was 1-for-2 with an RBI. Bragg, Simcox and Lewis were 1-for-3 apiece with an RBI each. The game was called after four innings due to the 10-run rule.
Little League Notes (Majors) The Angels and Marlins are current tied for first place in the league with identical 4-1 records. The Dodgers currently hold down third place and the Braves are locked in fourth.
All Teams including Softball It’s impossible to catch every game but our goal is to get as many as we can in the paper. Coaches from each team are urged to call me before Sunday with your game results. Please have first and last names of players from both teams. You help would be appreciated.
