Wilmetta Sue Johnson, age 64, of Rominger Road, Sugar Grove, passed away Tuesday morning, August 23, 2016, at Watauga Medical Center in Boone.
Sue was born February 22, 1952 in Cleveland, Ohio, a daughter of the late Joseph Donald Baton and Ella Mae Thomas Baton. She was a retired floral designer.
Sue is survived by her husband, Boyd Lane Johnson of the home; one daughter, Shannon Marie Brady of Mountain City, Tennessee; one son, James Eric Johnson of Kingsport, Tennessee; two sisters, Mollie Czar and husband Ron, and Mona Lisa Baton Payne, both of Mountain City; three brothers, John Thomas and wife Shirley of Boone, Tommy Baton and Eddie Baton, both of Zionville; three granddaughters, Ashley Brady of Cincinnati, Ohio, Cheslie Brady of Kingsport, and Cassie Brady of Johnson City, Tennessee; two grandsons, Dustin Brady of Greenville, Tennessee, and Triston Johnson of Kingsport, and one great-granddaughter, Ava Marie Ledford of Johnson City. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
In addtion to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Barbara Lynn Sedgewick.
Funeral services for Wilmetta Sue Johnson will be conducted Friday afternoon, August 26, 2016, at 2:00 o’clock, at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel. The body will lie in state, at the chapel, from 1:00 until 2:00 o’clock. Officiating will be Pastor Gordon Noble. Burial will follow in the Reece Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday afternoon, from 1:00 until 2:00 o’clock, at the funeral home, prior to the service.
