Mr. William Howard Davis, age 82, of 1010 Slabtown Road, Zionville, died Thursday morning, May 3, 2012, at Glenbridge Health and Rehabilitation.
Mr. Davis was born February 19, 1930 in Watauga County, a son of the late Thomas Smith Davis and Florence Eggers Davis. He was a retired veteran of the United States Army, serving for 23 years.
Mr. Davis is survived by one sister, Anna Mae Shook of Zionville; two nieces, Kathy Crowder of Mountain City, and Debby Saulmon and husband Larry of Morganton; and one nephew, Thomas Keith “Sonny” Taylor of Zionville. He is also survived by three great-nieces, three great-nephews, and seven great-great-nieces.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Annie V. Davis, and one nephew, Mike Taylor.
Funeral services for Mr. William Howard Davis were conducted Saturday afternoon, May 5, 2012, at 2:00 o'clock, at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel. The body lay in state at the chapel from 1:00 until 2:00 o'clock. Officiating were Reverend Carl Johnson and Reverend James Henson. Military graveside rites and burial followed in Zionville Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family received friends Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 o'clock, at Hampton Funeral Service. At other times friends may call at the Davis residence in Zionville.
