Therman Carroll Gentry, age 97 of the Cold Springs Community in Mountain City, Tennessee passed away on Friday May 4th, 2018 at the Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, VA. He was born July 30th, 1920 in the Johnson County to the late Joseph A. Gentry and Ella Smith Gentry. In addition to his parents he was predeceased in death by: a sister, Mina Gentry, and brothers: Selmar, Wade, Emory, Gaither, and Richard Dale.
He was a 50 year Mastor Mason of Taylorsville Masonic Lodge #243 F&AM.
He enjoyed playing old time music, working crossword puzzles, and spending spending time with his cattle and dogs.
Therman worked for 20 years as a foreman for T.V.A, he also had many years as a long distance truck driver.
Those left to cherish Therman’s memory include, his wife, Evelyn Johnson Gentry, daughters: Carolyn Davis and husband, Jim of Rose Hill, Virginia, and Becky Gentry of Mountain City.
Sons: Ted and wife Janie Gentry of Mountain City, and Scott Gentry of Mountain City, TN. Six Grand – children and Nine Great-Grandchildren.
Memorial Service for Therman will be held Monday, May 14th 2018 at 2 PM in the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel of the Hux & Lipford Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at 1 PM. Pastor Con Sauls to officiate.
Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to Johnson County Rescue Squad, or to Melissa Gentry’s Rescue Dog.
