Stella Lawson Combs, age 91, of Mountain City, passed away Saturday evening, January 3, 2015, at Mountain City Care Center.
Mrs. Combs was born January 24, 1923 in Williamson, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Westel and Bertha Sartin Cesco. She was a retired sales clerk for Sears-Robuck & Company.
Mrs. Combs is survived by one sister, Madonna Kennedy; and one sister-in-law, Lilly Ruth Cesco. She is also survived and beloved by a number of nieces and nephews, including Randy and Penny Cesco, Talmadge “Rocky” Cesco, Bruce Cesco, Brian Cesco, Frankie Smith, Djuana Anderson, Sharen Greene, Karen Childress, Shelia Plymale, Linda Nelson, Eugene Sesco, Dennis Sesco, Mae Lynne Cesco, Christine Cesco, Rickey Cesco, and Kevin Cesco.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, John Lawson; her second husband, Paul Robert Combs; and four brothers, Talmadge Cesco, Pat Cesco, Earl Sesco, and Willis Cesco.
Funeral services for Stella Lawson Combs were conducted Saturday afternoon, January 10, 2015, at 2:00 o’clock, at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel. The body lay in state at the chapel from 1:00 until 2:00 o’clock. Officiating was Pastor Eric Cornett. Burial followed in the Guy-Combs Cemetery.
The family received friends Saturday afternoon, from 1:00 until 2:00 o’clock, at the funeral home, prior to the service.
