Sharlene McQueen Wright, age 73 of Bristol, TN went to be with the Lord Thursday Nov. 24, 2011 at Wellmont Hospice House. Sharlene was born May 20, 1938 in Shady Valley, TN, a daughter of the late Walter and Alva Kress McQueen. She was a 1957 graduate of Johnson County High School, retired employee of Mountain Lakes Community Federal Credit Union, a member of Volunteer Baptist Church and attended Sacred Cross Assembly of God every Sunday night. She was the widow of Boyd Wright.
Survivors include her son, Chuck Wright and wife Regina; and daughter, Penny Rose and Jeff Chappell; two grandchildren, who were her pride and joy, Kyra Rose and Channing Wright; and her special friend, Les Reed; sisters, Lydia Lewis, Reba Robison and husband Dale; brothers are Haskell McQueen and wife Dora, Charles McQueen and wife Helen, and Kerby McQueen and wife Linda; other survivors include her brothers-and sisters-in-law, Priscilla Wilcox and husband J.B., Lois Blevins and husband Roger, Sue Gentry and husband Conley, Reba Perdue and husband Johnny, Phyllis Steagall and husband Duward, June Woodard, Paul Wright and wife Lois, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted at 6 p.m. Saturday, November 26, 2011 in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tony Thompson and Dr. Kenneth Jordan officiating. Burial was Sunday, November 27, 2011 at 2 p.m. in Blevins Cemetery in Shady Valley, TN. Honorary pallbearers were Tom King, Charles McCary, Lynn Pace, Herbert Peak, and Bernard Jessee.
