ROBERT E. (BOB) STONE

LEBANON, VA- Robert E. (Bob) Stone, age 85, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, October 7, 2015 in Mountain City Care Center.
Bob was born July 9, 1930 in Portsmouth, Ohio, a son of the late William Ellis Stone and the late Flora Aldridge Stone and the husband of the late Maryland Mildred Stone. Bob moved to Lebanon in 1969, then moving to Mountain City, TN two years ago. He was employed by Norfolk Southern Railroad for 34 years, retiring as General Foreman Mechanic at the Carbo Shop. He was a long time member of Lebanon Church of Christ and had been attending Mountain City Church of Christ.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.
Survivors include one daughter: Rhonda Kay Murray and husband Kevin, Mountain City, TN; one son: Michael A. Stone and wife Betty, Lebanon, VA; five grandchildren: Amanda Turner and husband Aaron, Knoxville, TN; Elizabeth Stone, Knoxville, TN; Robert Ellis Alan Stone, Knoxville, TN; Jonathan R. Murray, Henderson, TN; and Morgan L. Murray, Mountain City, TN; two great-grandchildren: Alexis Reid Turner and Ayden Quinn Turner, both of Knoxville, TN; two sisters: Inez Greenslate, South Shore, KY; and Lillian Farley, McMinnville, OR; two brothers: Willard (Ray) Stone and wife Helen, Florida; and William (Bill) Stone and wife Linda, Georgia; Also several nieces and nephews survive.
The funeral service was conducted at 4 pm Friday, October 9, 2015 in the Combs Funeral Service Chapel with Ministers Ron Epling and Adam Horn officiating. Entombment followed in the Ketron Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Lebanon. The family received friends 2 pm until 4 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers were Howard (Skip) Ramsey, Vegas Ferguson, Phillip Hamm, David Franklin, Chuck Jenkins and Dean Gouge. Serving as honorary pallbearers were men of the Lebanon Church of Christ and men of the Mountain City Church of Christ.
The family would like to say a heartfelt “thank you” to the staff at Mountain City Care Center for the wonderful care received. He adored all of you.
