Mr. R.J. Main, age 88, of 4712 Old US Highway 421, Zionville, died Saturday morning, June 4, 2011, at his home. Mr. Main was born April 18, 1923 in Johnson County, Tennessee, a son of the late Ira Frank Mains and Effie Roark Mains. He was a retired farmer.
Mr. Main is survived by his wife, Thelma Mains of the home; one daughter, Sebrina Mains and fiance Nathan Eggers of Zionville; one son, Steve Mains and daughter-in-law, Linda of Hickory; one sister, Christine Wallace of Zionville; two granddaughters, Alyson and Kim; one great-granddaughter, Courtney; one great-grandson, Trace; one great great-grandson, Marley; two sisters-in-law, Betty Mains of Vilas, and Peggy Mains of Zionville, and his beloved horses, Pete, Repete, and Chloe, and his wagon train friends. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Lucille Potter Mains, two brothers, Sylvanis Mains and Council Mains, and one sister, Paris Campbell. Funeral services for Mr. R.J. Mains were conducted Monday evening, June 6, 2011, at 7:00 p.m. at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel. The body lay in state at the chapel from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Officiating were Rev. Derick Wilson. Graveside services and burial were conducted Tuesday morning at 10:00 at Mabel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family received friends Monday afternoon from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
