Mr. Preston “Pret” Williams, 89, formerly of Butler went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 14, 2011 in the Hermitage Health Center following an extended illness. He was the son of the late Andy and Emma Williams and was born in Carter County. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Mae Oliver Williams; two brothers, D.C. Williams and Earnest Williams; and one sister, Amanda Jane Perry. He was retired from Burlington Industries and was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Williams is survived by three daughters, Goldy Luckett and Jerry Matherly, Butler; Cassie Church, Butler; Donna Roberts, Mountain City; four sons, Jewel Williams and his wife Ivalee, Mountain City; Ivan Williams, Butler; Mack Williams and his wife Susan, Butler; Eddie Williams and his fiancé, Lisa Montoyia, Butler; 15 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; two sisters, Pauline Oliver and her husband, Joe, Elizabethton; and Ida Smith, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service for Mr. Preston “Pret” Williams was conducted at 2:30 P.M., Sunday, January 16th in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Roy E. Wilson officiating. Music was under the direction of Larry Wright, soloist. The graveside service followed the funeral service in the Buckles Cemetery. Active pallbearers: Eddie Williams, Mack Williams, Jewel Williams, Ivan Williams, Kenny Luckett and Joey Luckett. The family received friends on Sunday, January 16th from 12:30 – 2:30 P.M. prior to the service in the chapel and at the residence of the daughter, Goldy Luckett, 148 Morley Street, Butler at other times.
