Pauline Smith Coffey, Butler, passed away at the age of 102 at the Glenbridge Rest Home in Boone, NC on December 23, 2011.
Pauline was born in Butler, TN on March 1, 1909. She enjoyed delivering Meals On Wheels up until the age of 96. She always looked forward to Flag Day. She was active in the Butler Baptist Church for many years. She enjoyed hearing and reading about the history of Butler, TN. Pauline graduated from the Business College in Johnson City, TN.
Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Taylor and Lona McQueen Smith; her husband, Stuart Coffey; brother, Robert Smith; grandson, Michael Ashley; and son-in-law, Dale Ashley.
Pauline is survived by one daughter, Margaret Ashley; two grandsons, Thomas Ashley and wife Jane, Terry Ashley and wife Melba, all of Boone, NC. Pauline also has seven great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren.
The service for Pauline Coffey was held on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at the Butler Baptist Church, Butler, TN. with Pastor Dan Wood officiating. Music was provided by the Butler Baptist Church and Cobbs Creek Baptist Church Choirs. Pallbearers were grandsons. The family received friends at the church from 1 p.m. until time for the service at 2 p.m. The burial followed at the Butler Memorial Cemetery.
