NOLA BLANCHE WARD CHURCH

Nola Blanche Ward Church, Elizabethton, passed away Sunday, November 15, 2015 in the Ivy Hall Nursing Home. A native of Johnson County, she was a daughter of the late Nathan D. Ward, Sr. and Sarah Tester Ward. She had lived most of her life in Elizabethton. Nola was a 1950 graduate of Johnson County High School. She was employed at Carter County Memorial Hospital and Sycamore Shoals Hospital where she was a unit secretary. Nola was an active member of East Side Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James Clifford Church, who died May 27, 1997; two brothers: Lee Ward and Nathan Ward, Jr.; and four sisters: June Swift, Hazel Vaught, Sarah Shepard and Dixie Norris.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law: Karen and Gary Elliott; two grandchildren: Jason Elliott and wife Michele and Suzanne Elliott Runion and husband Chris; two great grandchildren: Sara and Kyaree; a sister, Golda Scott; two brothers: Hill Ward and wife Jan and Conrad Ward; a brother-in-law, George Church; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jeremy Rhoton officiating. Graveside service and Interment will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 18, 2015 in Happy Valley Memorial Park. The family received friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
