Mrs. Maude Greer Clawson, age 100, of Boone, died Tuesday morning, October 25, 2011, at Watauga Medical Center. Mrs. Clawson was born February 15, 1911 in Watauga County, a daughter of the late Albert and Bertha Triplett Greer. She was a homemaker and a member of Laurel Springs Baptist Church. Mrs. Clawson is survived by two daughters, Carol Greene of Petersburg, Virginia, and Mary Miller and husband, Doug, of Mountain City, Tennessee; two sons, Sammy Clawson and his friend, Sonja Smith, of Lenoir, and Stanley Clawson of Boone; five grandchildren, Tim Clawson and wife, Kathy, of Lenoir, Charles Clawson and wife, Amy, of Apex, Bobby Clawson and wife, Pam, of Greenville, South Carolina, Chad Miller and his friend, Beth, of Mountain City, and Martha Harless and husband, Hal, of Kernersville; and two half-sisters, Gladys Gilbert and Melba Hayes. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Eugene Clawson; two brothers, Virgil and Sherman Greer; four sisters, Lillie Triplett, Maggie Greene, Ora Watson, and Edna Hampton; two half-brothers, Bynum and Ravon Greer, and two half-sisters, Bernice Cox and Ruth Miller.
Funeral services for Mrs. Maude Greer Clawson were conducted Friday afternoon, October 28, 2011, at 2:00 o'clock, at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel. The body lay in state at the chapel, from 12:30 until 2:00 o'clock. Officiating were Reverend Ricky Campbell, and Mr. Charles Clawson. Entombment followed in Mount Lawn Memorial Park and Gardens Mausoleum.
The family received friends Friday afternoon, from 12:30 until 2:00 o'clock, at the funeral home, prior to the service.
