Jessie Ray Dixon, age 77, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at his residence. He was born on April 7, 1938 to the late Roy and Nellie Church Dixon. In addition to his parents, Jessie was preceded in death by a son, Charles Ralph Dixon; sisters, Betty Hammons and Fannie Lefler; brothers, Raymond Dixon and Bill Dixon.
Jessie was a loving, caring, humble man who loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a great husband, father and grandfather and was always there for his family and friends. Jessie never put himself first or before others.
He loved the outdoors and especially loved fishing and hunting. Jessie also enjoyed watching and feeding birds and working in his yard.
He attended Corinth Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dorothy Dixon; daughter, Mary Dixon; son, Aaron Dixon; sisters: Evelyn Woodfin and Ruby Blevins; brothers: Charles Dixon, Johnny Dixon and Carl Dixon; grandchildren: Dustin Rankins, Dalton Reece, Blake Dixon, Kaylie Dixon and Anthony Dixon; great grandchildren: Kylie Roush, Gavin Rankins, Sheylin Reece, Skylar and Carter; several cousins, nieces and nephews and his German Shepherd, Sugar.
Funeral service was conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 6, 2015 at the Corinth Baptist Church with Pastor Billy Morefield and Tony Potter officiating.
The family received friends from 12-2:00 p.m. on Monday, prior to the service.
Graveside service and interment followed at the Sunset Memorial Park. Pallbearers were Dustin Rankins, Dalton Reece, Blake Dixon, Bryan Potter, Justin Roush and Danny Hammons.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorials be made to the family to assist with final expenses.
At other times, the family will receive friends at the home, 691 Stout Road, Mountain City, TN.
