Bob said he had completed his “bucket list” by doing all the things he ever hoped to do. The highlight was being a corporate pilot for 40 years as chief pilot for Ray C. Call, Inc. and Heck’s Discount Stores. He was a flight instructor, manager of Johnson County Airport for 10 years, and was able to fly 80 different aircraft, including jets and helicopters. He was recently awarded the Wright Brothers “Master Pilot” Award for 50 years of accident and incident free flying.
Bob was an Army veteran in the 612th QM Co. as a parachute rigger and jumper.
Bob was a fireman in Charleston, WV, a construction project manager that took he and his wife to many wonderful places. Then they retired to their lovely log home on Watauga Lake to finish out his colorful life. He told many people many times that he was lucky enough to live in a post card. He loved Watauga Lake!
There will be a gathering of family and friends at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, October 1, 2017 at the Johnson County Airport. Everyone is invited to join in laughter and remembrance of happier times.
