James Orran Farthing, 74, of Greenville, died Saturday, July 2, 2011.
Born in Mountain City, TN, he was a son of the late Joseph Harrison and Nettie Neatherly Farthing and the loving husband of Joyce Emory Farthing.
Mr. Farthing proudly served in the U.S. Air Force. He was employed for over 30 years by Hoechst-Celanese as a truck driver and was a member of Radiant Church.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and a man of great Christian faith.
He is survived by four children, Tom Farthing (Carol) of Simpsonville, Penny Mitchell of Greenville, Renee Parham (Manuel) of Travelers Rest, and Sheila Motes (Ricky) of Greenville; 10 grandchildren, Matt and Parker Parham, Alex and Sydney Farthing, Thomas, Caleb and Chloe Motes, Christian, Chandler and Chase Mitchell and a sister, Sue Maze (John) of Mountain City, TN.
Memorials may be made to Radiant Church Building Fund, PO Box 1148, Travelers Rest, SC 29690.
Visitation was held Tuesday, July 5, 2011 from 1:30 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest, followed by the funeral service at 3 p.m. in the chapel. Entombment was in Grand View Memorial Gardens following the service.
