Jim Carl ‘Jim’ Cox, age 61, of 12295 Hwy 88 West, Creston, North Carolina, passed away on Saturday morning, August 4, 2018 at his home. He was born July 17, 1957 in Ashe County, NC to the late Carl Cox and Irene Eldreth Cox. In addition to his parents Jim was preceded in death by two sisters, Sherry Cox and Diane Sheets, one brother, Tim Cox.

Jim was always smiling for those who knew him. He loved fishing and could tell stories about fishing. Jim loved his family and being with them and will truly be missed by all. He was a member of Rock Creek Mis­sionary Baptist Church but more than that he Loved the Lord.

Those left to cherish Jim’s memories is his wife, Patsy Widner Cox, daughters, Kaitlynn Marie Cox, Shannon Roten and husband Greg, Ashley Severt, step-daughters, April Roark and husband Ronnie and Pam Douglas and companion Robbie Hurley, sister, Sandy Greer and husband Gary, five grandchildren and four step-grandchildren, several, nieces, nephews and cousins, many special friends.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 from11:00 a.m-12:30 p.m. at Mountain City Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 12:30 p.m. with Pastor’s Anthony Roark and Danny Farmer officiating, special music will be by, Barbara Roark an Danny Farmer. Pallbearers will be Owen Roark, Robbie Hurley, Johnny Dancy, Walter Cox, Richard McCoy, Dwayne Farmer, Allen Widner and Ronnie Roark, graveside service and burial will follow the funeral from the Cox-Davis Cemetery (Bryan Davis Rd; Creston, NC).

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family. Friends may call at the home of his sister, 3499 Forge Creek Rd., Mountain City, TN 37683.
