Ms. Ira Bell (Arrie) Curd, age 102, of 140 Butler Lane, Mountain City, TN passed away Saturday, January 21, 2012 in Sycamore Shoals Hospital in Elizabethton, TN after a brief illness. She was born in Johnson County on April 27, 1909 to the late William and Donie Howard Dunn. She was a member of First Christian Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepmother Maude Dunn; her husband Alfred Curd; infant son Blaine Curd; three sons, Harold Curd, Clay Curd and Lynn Curd; daughters, Doris Pleasant and Adwina Arnold; two daughters-in-law, Betty Curd and Grace Curd; two grandsons, Jimmy Curd and infant Bobby Joe Payne; great grandson, Travis Curd; two brothers, Ferd Dunn and Clint Dunn; five sisters, Ella Parsons, Ruby Dowell, Mamie Forrester, Verna Dunn and Vertie Dunn.
Survivors are one daughter, Wanda Payne of Mountain City, TN; one daughter-in-law, Peggy Curd of Knoxville, TN; one sister, Olive Johnson; one brother, Billy Dunn; 13 grandchildren; several great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services for Ms. Ira Bell (Arrie) Curd were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2012 from the East Side Memory Chapel of Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Morefield officiating. Active pallbearers were Billy Payne, Danny Curd, Jamie Curd, Billy R. Payne, Charles Dyson, Larry Payne and David Payne. Honorary pallbearers were Richard Arnold, Jimmy Widner, Dickie Curd, Dean Curd, Dwight Curd and Gene Woodard. The family received friends from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Tuesday prior to the funeral service. Graveside service and interment followed in Dunn Cemetery.
