Geter Paul Jennings, Sr., 79 yrs, of Port Deposit, Maryland and formerly of Mountain City, TN, died peacefully at his residence on Friday, January 20, 2012. Born June 24, 1932, in Butler, TN, he was the son of the late Clyde and Mae Cornett Jennings.
Mr. Jennings retired from Price Brothers of Perryman MD, after 30 years of service. He was a veteran of the U. S Army having served his country during the Korean Conflict. He was a lifetime member of the Edgewood, MD, VFW Post and a member of the Susquehanna Americana Legion Post No 135, of Perryville, MD. He was a Christian believer.
Mr. Jennings is survived by his sons, Martin C. Jennings and wife, Donna, and Geter P. Jennings, Jr.; daughters, Barbara E. Hensley and husband, James, Theresa C. Kline and husband, Leonard, and Nora L. Lucas and husband, Mark; 14 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. He is also survived by seven brothers, Dewey Jennings, West Grove, PA; Jim Jennings, Lehigh Acres, FL; Ben Jennings, Barney Jennings, Perry Jennings, Tony Jennings and Butch Jennings, Mountain City, TN and three sisters, Verlene Martin, Nora Mae Swift and Evelyn Farmer, Mountain City, TN.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Jennings was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Jane Hare Jennings; brothers, Howard Jennings, Ralph Jennings, Sonny Jennings and Oscar Jennings.
The family would like to express a very special thank you to Mr. Jennings’ granddaughter Tonya Kelso and her husband, Frank, who were dad’s caregivers. They went beyond the call of duty. They showed him love and support during his last days. We the family, want to express our sincere thanks and say we love you.
Funeral services were held Thursday, January 26, 2012, 11 a.m. at the Lee A. Patterson & Sons Funeral Home, P. A., Perryville, MD. Visitation for family and friends was held Wednesday, January 25, 2012, 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Ronald D. Estep of Life Bible Church of Havre de Grace, MD officiated. Interment was in the Oxford Cemetery, Oxford, PA.
