Gene “Skip” Leston Sauer of Knotts Island, N.C./ Mtn. City, Tenn. went home to be with the Lord on Sept. 25, 2012. He was born Dec. 25, 1937, son of the late George and Sue Sauer.
He was a six-time state archery champion, 25-year Master Tech G.M.C, and a member of Hard Times Car Club. Skip also loved creating unique paintings on canvas.
He is predeceased by his son, Jerry Sauer. Left to cherish his memory is his wife Patricia Ansell Sauer of 15 years, stepdaughter Romunza Patricia Winchester of K.I., N.C., sons John and his wife Regina, Adam and his wife Chrisha, Gene Jr. and Pia of Mt. City, Tenn., and Billy of Henderson, N.C., five grandchildren of Mt. City, Tenn., sisters Georgia Cason of K.I., N.C., Ginger Johnson of N.J., along with numerous nieces and nephew. A special thank you to Michael and Vicki Cason of K.I., N.C. for their devoted and loving care, also to our friend Gussie for being a godsend.
There will be a private graveside service at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Cancer Society.
