Frances Timbs Collins, age 76, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at the Johnson City Medical Center. She was born on September 1, 1938 to the late Theodore and Lula Price Timbs. In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by sisters: Margaret Range, Janice Fisk and Glenda Bellamy and brothers: Wade Timbs and Lonnie Timbs.
She was a graduate of Unicoi County High School and attended Emory and Henry College.
Frances had a special love for taking care of the elderly and the young. She was a foster parent for many years and helped take care of elderly women, which she really enjoyed. Frances liked to stay busy and was always working with her hands sewing, cooking and making candy.
Frances is survived by her daughters: Donna Collins and Sherah Collins; sons: Jamey Collins and Chuck Collins; sisters: Charlotte A. Pennell and Maxine Timbs Funderburk; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; 53 nieces and nephews and 13 cousins.
A memorial service for Frances will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 18, 2014 at the Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Steven Spencer and Pastor Greg Poe to officiate. Music will be provided by Mr. Jerry Horne, soloist and Peggy Garcia, pianist. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Maxine Funderburk, 400 Blant Road, Mountain City, TN 37683.
At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of Maxine.
