Fletcher Lee “Buddy” Brewster Jr., Abingdon, VA, age 64, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at the Valley Health Care Center in Chilhowie, Va. Buddy was born in Washington County, Va., to the late Fletcher Lee Brewster and Grace Rhudy Brewster. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Lee Berry Brewster; a son, Brittian Lee Brewster; a brother, Sgt. James E. Brewster; and a sister, Ruth Brewster Swift. Buddy was the first employee of W.L. Construction and was in heavy truck sales for over 40 years. After his retirement he enjoyed farming, classic cars and motorcycles. He attended the Seven Mile Ford Presbyterian Church and sang in the Good News Quartet. Survivors include four children, Bryan C. Brewster and wife, Kimberly, Kingsport, Tenn., Brennan Brewster and wife, Jennifer, Kingsport, Britt Brewster Marshall and husband, Kevin, Kingsport, and Brandan Brewster, Kingsport; his fiance, who was the love of his life for the past five years, Carolynn “Caroline” Cornett and her mother, Chessie Cornett, a special friend and second mother, Abingdon; sisters, Barbara Gregory and husband, Pete, Marion, Va., and Brenda Lewis and Buddy's special friend, D.C. Walker, Chilhowie; grandchildren, Logan Brewster, Lucinda Brewster, Desmond Brewster and Peyton Marshall; step grandchildren, Samantha Gatewood and Aaron Gatewood; several nieces and nephews; and father-in-law, W.C. Berry. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Buddy's life-long friend, Frank Branson. Funeral services were held 8 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at the Chilhowie Christian Church, with the Rev. Bob Thornton and the Rev. Frank Branson officiating. Graveside services were held at 11 a.m., Friday at the Westwood Memorial Gardens in Chilhowie. The family received friends Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Chilhowie Christian Church. Pallbearers were Mike Billings, Mike Brewster, Vance Gregory, Steve Gregory, Mert Dibble, T.J. Lewis, Ty Lewis and Larry Hamm. Honorary pallbearers were Jeb Brewster, Alan Cornett, Joe Wilson, Johnny Goodwin, Edward Booher and David Cole.
