Eva Brown Tester, age 90, of Big Dry Run Road, Butler, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, March 02, 2011 at the Sycamore Shoals Hospital. She was born on June 22, 1920 to the late James and Stella Hagie Brown. In addition to her parents, Eva was preceded in death by her husband, Haskell Tester; an infant daughter, Shirley Tester; sister: Valah Dugger and brothers: Atley Brown, Don Brown, Ree Brown, Stanley Brown, Hayden Brown and S.S. ‘Shirley’ Brown. She was a former employee of Blue Ridge Shoe Company. Eva was a member of Sugargrove Baptist Church, where she also taught Sunday school and sang in the church choir.
Eva is survived by her children: Larry Tester and wife Barbara of Butler, TN, Freda Schingle and husband Frank and Sherry Hunt and husband John, all of Knoxville, TN; brother, R.V. Brown of Elizabethton, TN; grandchildren: Karen and husband Randy Wimberly, Cherie and husband Steve Adams, Alison and husband Zach Carr, Shawna Moore, Hannah and husband Roy Nicaud, Heidi and husband Ben Herring; great grandchildren: Manning and Nathan Wimberly and Holly and Dallas Adams and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family received friends from 1-3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at Sugar Grove Baptist Church with the funeral service following at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Tim Tapp and Grandson-in-law, Roy Nicaud officiating. Graveside Service and Interment followed from the Sugar Grove Cemetery. Active pallbearers were nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to Sugar Grove Baptist Church, 925 Sugar Grove Church Road, Butler, TN 37640.
