Mrs. Emma Osborne McCoy, age 94, of Creston passed away Sunday morning, May 6, 2012 at Margate Health & Rehab Center.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at 11:00am at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Darrell Graybeal officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
The family received friends from 6:00-8:00pm on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at Boone Family Funeral Home.
Mrs. McCoy was born in Ashe County on Tuesday, March 26, 1918 to the late Lillard and Diadma Price Osborne. She enjoyed gardening and housekeeping. From her garden, she loved eating fried squash. She also enjoyed watching the Laker’s basketball games, even in later years when her eyesight got so bad that she couldn’t see, she would stay up late at night just to listen to the game.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Hugh McCoy.
Emma is survived by two daughters, Nancy Barker and husband, Gairl, of Creston and Kay Richardson and husband, John, of Mountain City, TN; a brother, Ray Osborne, of Myrtle Creek, Oregon; two grandchildren, Tim Barker, of Woodside, NY and Sandy Richardson, of Charlotte, NC; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Flowers accepted or memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
The family will be meeting at the home place: 1875 Big Laurel Road in Creston.
