Donald Francis Hathaway, age 89, of Mountain City, TN went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at his residence. He was born September 7, 1926 to the late Donald Hathaway and Lillian Fitzgerald Hathaway. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, David Hathaway and Robert Hathaway. And by a sister, Carol Connley.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during WWII.

Donald was an Ordained Deacon in the Catholic Church. He graduated from Cornell School of Law in 1951 and was a practicing attorney for many years. Throughout his life he constantly developed new interests. He became a master gardener. He became interested in computers and later did in-depth studies of Shakespeare. He was a 30 year member of AA and started a local group. In earlier years he worked with Native American Indians to make sure their bodies were taken back to the reservation for proper burial.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Patricia Hathaway; daughters: Barbara Hathaway, Katherine Hathaway, Mary Hathaway, and Geri Curwin; sons: Donald Hathaway and wife Sharon, Lee Hathaway and wife Sharon; sister, Ann Connely, and grandchildren: Sara Hathaway, John Hathaway, Andrea Hathaway, Danielle Hathaway, and Nicholas Hathaway. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:0 a.m. on Friday, January 22, 2016 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with Father Dennis officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 – 11:00 a .m. prior to the Mass.
At other times, friends may call at the home at 101 Adams Lane, Mountain City, TN 37683.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Anthony’s Bread Fund, 833 West Main Street, Mountain City, TN.The family of Donald Francis Hathaway has entrusted his services to Mountain City Funeral Home, 224 S. Church Street, Mountain City, TN 37683
