Dallas D. Dickens, age 87, of Bristol, TN went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 7, 2012, at Wellmont Hospice House. He was born in Johnson County, TN on June 30, 1925 to the late Emmett Dickens and Hazel Henson Dickens. He was a lifelong resident of Sullivan County, having moved to Bristol at an early age with his parents. He was a route salesman for Gray’s Dairy for forty years and had been self-employed since 1982. Mr. Dickens was a charter member of Heritage Baptist Church, formerly Emmanuel Baptist. He had been active in church work since 1954, having served as Sunday School Superintendent, Deacon, and Trustee. He and his wife were instrumental in financially helping many children and young people with their Christian education. He was a member of Woodmen of the World and “Model A” Restorers Club. He owned several antique cars including “Model A’s which he had completely restored.
Survivors: wife of 66 years, Leona Dickens (married June 8, 1946); several nieces, nephews, and cousins; his church family; many, many special friends.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, July 11, 2012, from Heritage Baptist Church with Pastor Darryl Fritts and Rev. Eric Wiens officiating. Burial will follow in Shelby Hills Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chris Stine, Mike Stine, Scott Stine, Daniel Shelton, Jeffery Huff and Joshua Perry. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Heritage Baptist Church. The family received friends from 6-8 on Tuesday at Weaver Funeral Home. Online condolences may be registered at
