Mr. Charlie Dancy, age 64, of 154 Charlie Dancy Road, Zionville, died, Sunday, December 25th, at his home. Mr. Dancy was born February 5, 1947 in Watauga County, a son of the late Conard and Edna Isaacs Dancy. He was a retired employee of Vermont American in Boone, and a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
Mr. Dancy is survived by two daughters, Kim Poteat and husband Tim of Mountain City, and Charlene Brown and husband Steve of Zionville; five grandsons, T.C. Poteat and wife Amanda, Paul Poteat, and Gideon Poteat, all of Mountain City, Charlie Richards and wife Ashley of Boone, and Brandon Brown and wife Brittany of Lenoir; one granddaughter, Schasta Phillips and husband Josh of Mountain City; six great-grandchildren, Ava Phillips, Tanya Richards, Timmy Richards, Lilly Wallace, Wyatt Wallace, and Cheyenne Brown; four sisters, Susie Adams and husband Walter of Freeland, Maryland, Vertie Mae Teague and husband Charlie of Lenoir, Kathleen Campbell and husband Gary of Zionville, and Patsy Wagoner of Winston-Salem; seven brothers, Glenn Dancy of Lenoir, Robert Dancy and wife Shirley, and Jack Dancy and wife Ellen, all of Vilas, Bill Dancy and wife Virginia of Zionville, Lloyd Dancy and wife Karen of Vilas, Gene Dancy and wife Evelyn, and Ted Dancy and wife Janie, all of Zionville; a special uncle, Dayton Isaacs, and a number of close friends, Donnie and Ann Trivette, Johnny LeFevers, Larry Proctor, Dale Isaacs, and Larry Canter. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
A celebration of the life of Charlie Russell Dancy will be conducted Wednesday evening, December 28, 2011, at 7:00 o'clock, at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Preacher Larry Proctor.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening following the service.
