Buddy L. ‘Bud’ Snow, age 80, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, December 5, 2011 at the Life Care Center of Gray. He was born to the late Lee Willard Snow and Lorene Louise Pottinger on March 25, 1931, in Springfield, MO. After graduating from Central High School in Springfield, Bud enlisted into the Marine Corp in 1946, where he was a cook. Bud was honorably discharged in 1950. After the Marine Corp, he met his first wife, Virginia May Esterly. They were married in 1953. They moved to West Covina, CA where their son Gregory Lee was born in 1957 and their daughter Linda Louise was born in 1959. The family moved to Sarcoxie, MO in 1962.
Bud and Virginia were divorced in 1965. During this time, he was living in California. He later met his future wife, the late Deloris ‘Dee’ Ellen Kahlstorf and was married in May of 1971. They resided in El Sobrante, CA for 12 years. Bud worked as a bakery delivery driver and Dee was an administrative assistant for an industrial company.
While painting his home in El Sobrante, Bud injured his ankles from a fall. Despite this, he was still able to walk but this injury led to his disability and retirement.
Bud and Dee both retired in 1982 and moved to Placerville, CA, where they lived for 11 years, in a home they had built themselves in the Tahoe National Forest. They enjoyed playing golf.
Diagnosed with cancer, Bud underwent an operation that led to the impediment of his speech. Through various treatments, he eventually became cancer free.
During his recovery, Bud and Dee moved to Mountain City, Tennessee, in 1993, to be closer to Dee’s sister, Evelyn Graybeal and her family. Upon moving to Mountain City, Bud and Dee became members of the First Baptist Church. Bud and Dee helped with the church’s food pantry, while Bud also helped with the park maintenance.
Bud and Dee later became members of the First Christian Church and continued to help with their food pantry. Bud also assisted with communion until he was no longer able to.
After 38 years of marriage, Bud lost Dee in October of 2009. She is buried at the Phillippi Cemetery, where Bud will join her.
He is survived by his brother, James Willard Snow and his wife Barbara Ramsey-Snow of Clever, MO; his son, Gregory Lee Snow and his wife May of El Sobrante, CA; grandsons, Geoffrey Lee Snow, presently in Pittsburgh, PA and Scott Kenneth Snow of El Sobrante, CA; his daughter, Linda Louise (Snow) Boynton and her husband Rick; grandson, Steven Boynton and wife Tabatha; great granddaughters, Ayana and Nieca; grandson, Jason Boynton and his wife Diana; grandsons, Jacob Boynton, Samuel Boynton, Peter Boynton; and granddaughters, Abigail Boynton, Lydia Boynton, Ruth Boynton and Rebekah Boynton, all residing in Boerne, TX.
