Bruce Blevins passed away Wednesday afternoon, October 8, 2014, at Novant Health Matthews Medical Center. He was 68 years old. Born September 6, 1946 in Baltimore, Maryland, he was a son of the late Bruce Hamilton Blevins and Sarah Evelyn Brown Blevins.
Bruce was a graduate of Woodlawn High School in Baltimore. He retired from Bellsouth after 37 years of service. Bruce had a passion for travel, history and his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Libby Blevins; his children, Jenna Jongquist and her husband, Kyle, of Lake Wylie, SC, and Scott Blevins and his wife, Dee, of Midland; his three grandchildren, Hannah Jongquist, Luke Jongquist, and Brady Blevins; and his brother, James Blevins.
Friends visited with the family from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Monday, October 13, at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road in Mint Hill, with a funeral service immediately following at 12 in the funeral home chapel. Interment followed in Forest Lawn East Cemetery in Matthews.
