Mrs. Bonnie Cornett Shaw, age 101, of 211 Milton Brown Heirs Road, Boone, died Thursday afternoon, December 15, 2011, at Glenbridge Health and Rehabilitation Center in Boone.
Mrs. Shaw was born November 17, 1910 in Johnson County, Tennessee, a daughter of the late Richard Filmore Ragan and Rebecca Rash Ragan. She was a homemaker and a member of Mountain Dale Baptist Church. Mrs. Shaw is survived by two daughters, Martha Phillips and husband Bill of Zionville, and Mary Cornett of Boone; one daughter-in-law, Louise Cornett of Boone; one sister-in-law, Charlotte Nichols of Kernersville; nine grandchildren, Janie Ward, Larry Cornett, Kathy Deas, Shelia Perry, Sherry Reese, Marlene Oliver, Joyce Pierce, Janice Rivera, and Alan Phillips. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren, nine great great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Fred M. Cornett; her second husband, Earl Shaw; three sons, Ellard Cornett, Tommy Cornett, and Albert Cornett; one daughter, Pauline Ward; one granddaughter, Elizabeth Watson; four sisters, Velma Spears, Lizzie Shoun, Mae Miller, and Dora Efros; one half-sister, two half-brothers; one son-in-law, and three daughters-in-law.
Funeral services for Mrs. Bonnie Cornett Shaw were conducted Sunday afternoon, December 18, 2011, at Mountain Dale Baptist Church. Officiating were Reverend Carl Wilson and Reverend Eric Cornett. Burial followed in Mountain Dale Baptist Church Cemetery.
